V Viswa is the youngest of three children. His mother, Chithra, is in a desperate situation as she is a widow with no income apart from the Grail Trust’s support for Viswa.
Almost a year ago, her husband committed suicide by drinking poison. In 2016 the Suicide Death Rate (SDR) in men was 1:4 times higher in India than the global average. Sadly, this figure is still rising. The most common reason for suicide is debt.
Viswa is 7 years old and attends the Muthammal Higher Primary School in Kadambankulam, where he is a second standard pupil.
