Like the rest of the world, Coronavirus is having a drastic impact on  India and of course, our Grail Trust children.  This morning, Grail Trust India trustee Mr Gregory Retnaraj sent this report:

“The situation in Vallioor and other parts of India is almost the same as in England. The Train services in India are stopped till 31st March, almost all the international flights scheduled to arrive in India and depart from India are getting cancelled, all the schools, Colleges and the other educational institutions are closed till the end of March (with no prospects of re-opening till the 10th of April), most of the Industries are closed, and the churches, Mosques and temples too are closed. All the Indians (except who are engaged in health and other essential services) were asked to stay Indoors between 7 A.M and 9 P.M yesterday and some State Governments including the Government of Tamil Nadu extended the curfew till 5 AM today. By and large, the general public responded to the call of the government concerned, sensing the possibility of the Coronovirus bringing untold misery, especially to the poor people living in the Country. We do hope that the Countries around the world in general and the poor people in India in particular, will be in a position to face this unprecedented situation with courage.”  Please note: these photographs were taken during Neil Fairlamb and Lynda Chugg’s visit in January.
