One of our Indian trustees, Mr Gregory Retnaraj writes:

“Though the number of persons affected by Covid 19 in India has come down considerably,(from 4 lakh plus to about 1,75,000 today), the situation in Tamil Nadu is not very encouraging. In fact, Tamil Nadu is the most affected State as on date, with more than 31000 new cases reported today. However, the situation in Tirunelveli has improved considerably, with about 500 new cases reported today. Total lock down is ordered in most parts of India, including Tamil Nadu till the 10th of June and likely to be extended further. With all the educational institutions and the commercial establishments remaining closed, people in general, poor people in particular, are facing considerable difficulties in leading a normal life, in spite of the fact that the Government is doing their best to ameliorate the sufferings of the poor and the downtrodden. Under these circumstances, it is most appropriate that we continue the extra monetary help to our children, till the situation improves.”

N.B. A lakh is a unit in the Indian numbering system equal to one hundred thousand (100,000;).  it is written as 1,00,000.

The children supported by the Grail Trust mainly come from the district of Tirunelveli.  All of our children are currently receiving Rs 1000 per month, an increase of 20%.  This increase has been consistently given for more than a year now.

The kind donations our supporters make go straight to where it is needed – our Grail Trust children. The need, always huge, is now unprecedented.
