Ashik Raja is six years old. He attends the Government Primary School in Nallangulam, where he is studying II Standard. His older sister, Ashika, is in III Standard at the same school and his younger sister, Anshika, is in the nursery class there.
His mother, Malar, pictured outside their home, has a very difficult life, Her husband died of a heart attack at the end of June this year. She is actively looking for a job to support her family, but there is even more unemployment than usual at the moment, due to Covid 19 raging in Tamil Nadu.
Consequently, her only source of income for her family of three young children is the monthly allowance from the Grail Trust…..
